Sitting in his bathtub, broke, three thousand miles from New York, Frank Miller had an idea. “I thought, what if this happened to Matt Murdock? What if he lost everything?” Shortly afterward, Ralph Macchio called, telling him that Denny O’Neil, no longer getting along with Jim Shooter, had left Daredevil. Miller told Macchio his idea, and it was settled: he would write Daredevil once again.
